Angie’s Journey to Recovery

One person whose life has been completely changed at Healing House is Angie. Her substance abuse problems started when she was about 25 years old. Though she knew alcoholism ran in her own family, she got involved with people who abused both meth and alcohol. It was not long before she was hooked as well. It did not take long for people in her life to begin noticing a change in her. So, she withdrew from others, pushing away friends…

Melissa’s Story

Melissa was raised in a tight knit Italian home that was not marred by alcoholism or addiction. Although she started to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana with friends in high school, overall her life was pretty normal.  What Melissa did not know is that she had undiagnosed mental health issues; anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). From her early childhood, she experienced sleepless nights, panic attacks, and obsessive thoughts. In her teen years, she discovered that drinking slowed down those obsessive…

We have made it safer and easier for you to bless our people this year. One of the greatest ways of blessing a Healing House resident is through our ever popular Adopt An Angel program. You can choose one or more residents from our Angel Tree and become their own personal Santa! It may seem like a small gesture to some, but the impact this has on the residents, the joy and thankfulness, is truly unmeasurable. You can choose a male or…

A Touch of Class at the RCC

Last month, we were blessed to have a group of talented, classically-trained local musicians perform at our Recovery Community Center. The lights were low and the stage was set for an octet; four violins, two violas and two cellos. They performed the Mendelssohn Octet and several selected solo works. The experience was very moving and the room sounded great. Fifty masked and socially distanced patrons got to enjoy some much needed culture here in the Historic Northeast. We plan on…
