Healing House Defies Vandalism with Unity

A Setback

Erin’s House, an upcoming safe haven for mothers and children, experienced a significant set-back on August 17, due to vandalism. Our mission is to bring hope and healing to those who need it, but the destruction caused damages of around $50,000, setting us back at least a month on the project.

Erin’s House, named in honor of a remarkable volunteer, Erin Langhofer, who tragically lost her life in 2019, was nearly completed. However, the damage inflicted on newly installed wiring, plumbing, and the HVAC system coil serves as a stark reminder of the imperative for resources and community support.

The Power of Community

Despite the adversity, the Kansas City community stood behind us. News stations shared our story, and within hours Titan Security donated a state-of-the-art security system to us.  Their quick action has already helped us detect activity outside of Erin’s ensuring that we are protected in the future. The collective action of the community was both inspiring and humbling.

We’re thankful for the donations that flowed in, lightening our financial load. This outpouring of support rekindled our faith in the kindness of humanity. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who lent a hand and shared their prayers!

In tough times, we rise, much like our participants on their journey to sobriety. Your lasting impact drives us to create not just a shelter, but a place of healing and hope, a true home.

The fight is not yet over! We still need your help to complete this project on time, please join us in doing the next right thing and giving 16 people a safe place to live and and prosper.
