What is giving tuesday?
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. It’s a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.
We’re putting our spin on Giving Tuesday with Giving Tools-Day, a special fundraiser that empowers you to help support others in need rebuild their lives and that of their families this holiday season and beyond by giving them the tools to be successful.
3 ways to get involved on giving tools-day
1. sponsor a participant in our vocational training program
Nearly 99% of our participants come to Healing House unemployed. And Healing House has partnered with the Metropolitan Community College and Jerry Smith of Smith Cooling to provide our participants opportunities for training and the tools to build better futures. Vocational training programs include courses in healthcare, CDL, information technology, public safety, technical skills, customer service, industrial and engineering technology, HVAC and more!
By sponsoring a participant in our Vocational Training program, you cover their costs of living at Healing House while they are unemployed and in training, giving them the tools to build a better future for them and their families.
- Donate $20 to cover a participant’s program fees for one day at Healing House
- Donate $140 to cover a participant’s program fees for one week at Healing House
2. Share our posts on facebook and create your own facebook fundraiser
Start a Facebook Fundraiser and invite your friends to help you crush your goal. Be sure to customize it with a proper name (e.g. Sandra’s #GivingTuesday Fundraiser) and a personal message and photo (see below for ideas!). Once you’re all set up, share your fundraiser via Instagram, Twitter, email, and text. One hundred percent of the funds you raise will benefit participants in our Vocational Training program.
Pro Tip: Get the ball rolling by making the first donation. This shows that you’re committed to the cause and will inspire others to join in and make a contribution of their own.
