A water fountain donation is another addition to our green initiative

In April, the First Step Fitness Center received a very generous donation of an Elkay ezH20 Bottle Filling Station! KC drug advocate speaks up as KCPD is seeing more deadly fentanyl overdoses

Brenda Peters, C.P.S., of Healing House, Inc., sat down with KCTV-5 news twice in March to discuss the rising overdose death rates, specifically those caused by the synthetic opioid fentanyl. Fentanyl is the same substance the KCPD is seeing many people in the metro dying from, especially young people 15 to 24 years old. They said that, between 2019 and 2020, the KC metro saw a 149% increase in overdose deaths by the synthetic opioid. Meet Joey

Everyone at Healing House wants you to win. They want you to be yourself, and they give you what you need to be a better person. There is freedom in that. Joey never got to enjoy a typical Easter celebration with his family. His father died when he was very young, and his mother struggled with addiction. Much of Joey’s childhood was spent in foster care. At 17, he was sentenced to a stint in prison for a felony offense.…
